Description
I was walking down the canyon road with a camera in hand when a big-white-dually pickup truck stopped next to me. A lady rolled down the window and asked if I was a professional photographer.
I never really know how to answer that question: I don't make a living at it, I don't advertise....
"Why yes, yes I am."
"The fall colors are so beautiful this year and we would like to have a picture, you know, three pictures that are all the same picture in panels big enough to cover the wall at the cabin and all we have are these cheap little cameras. Could you take a picture like that?"
After indicating it might be a distinct possibility I gave her my web-page address, which has my contact info, and then the husband leaned forward and said. "Maybe we could work out a trade; like you could stay at our cabin for a weekend."
I smiled politely, but I may have raised an eyebrow thinking: Buddy, you have no idea what a full wall picture would cost.
But still, with that concept in mind, I went back two days later. I sat across the canyon and purposely waited until after the sun went down so I could shoot long exposures for the deepest saturation. I actually found my daughter up the canyon that night; she was taking in the fall colors as well.
I never did hear from the man and woman in the big-white-dually pickup truck and I didn't try to track them down either, but the secretary at my day job had this one printed on canvas to hang in her kitchen. It is almost eight feet wide and it is beautiful, spectacular and so memorizing that one can stare at it for hours.., or so she says.
